Wedding Wednesday – You’re One Week From Your Big Day, Now What?

You’ve had your dress altered and have made sure that everything fits perfectly, but what about your groomsmen? Everything from the perfect fitting tie to the right sized shoe, it’s all in the details!

One detail that tends to be forgotten is to ensure that your groomsmen and their tuxedos fit perfectly! You want to be sure that everyone’s shirts are not too big and that everyone’s pants are long enough, but not too long. Don’t worry, you’ll still be able to show off those fun socks!

In addition to making sure that everyone who will be wearing a tuxedo on your big day has been sized correctly, this is also for any additional specialty items you might be adding in. Custom cufflinks and tie selections being items most commonly forgotten.

JEH Ranch Wedding in California-Magical Monday

They say rain on a wedding day is good luck. Well  Nicole and Nick were very lucky on their big day.  Just a few magical sprinkles in the beginning of the day and everything went off without a hitch.

Sometimes having an outdoor wedding in Bakersfield can lead to unexpected weather. But not once did our bride stop smiling. Nicole was so relaxed and calm, she knew everything would turn out because she was marrying the love of her life.

Their entire event took place at JEH Ranch. Here the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception  can be in 3 different places! Creating new atmospheres through out the day for the guests is half the fun.

Nick and Nicole’s color palette of blush pinks, ivory, gold, candle light accented the natural greenery of the venue perfectly. The hints of sparkle and elegance combined with the river flowing in the background took the guests on a journey out of Bakersfield for a romantic dinner.

We loved every aspect of being Nick and Nicole’s Fairy Godmothers. From hearing her read Nick’s letter and hold back tears of joy to bribing their sweet daughter with tootsie rolls.

When we saw this comment from Nicole on our Instagram photo we couldn’t help but feel like we’re living a fairy tale and getting to be real Fairy Godmothers.

… and then this photo followed!

Fairy Godmother Reagan is now known as Ariel.   Needless to say Stella and her family have a team of forever Fairy Godmothers and we’re are counting down the days until we can design a birthday party for her!!

Magical Monday- Fairy Godmother Foundation Wedding at The Westchester

On March 18th, 2016 the Fairy Godmother team had the honor of being a part of the Fairy Godmother Foundation Wedding.

Rachel and Robert were chosen this year. Their personal plans for a wedding had been put on hold many times due to their son Isaac’s illness. Isaac has an inoperable cancerous brain tumor. He is now on a trial treatment and is quite the little fighter. We’re so glad Isaac got to be apart of this special day!

You’ve heard the story about the planning process, so here’s how their magical day went.

Many of Bakersfield’s finest vendors pulled together and donated their time and skill to celebrate Robert and Rachel joining together as one.

Our Fairy Godmother team had the pleasure of working with Walker Lewis, Make it Happen Events, Cherry Blossoms and The Westchester to create Rachel and Robert’s event design.
We intertwined all shades of blush pink, added a dash of sparkle and finished it off with a twinkling back drop for the head table.

David Tutera, Colin Cowie and Kristin Banta, Fairy Godmother Friday – Fairy Bucket Lists!

“If you keep on believing, the dream that you wish will come true!” – Cinderella

Photo by Left Coast By Design

Fairy Godmother Colleen’s bucket list events are with her most favorite designers, and she plans to make them a reality! She would love to see and be a part of  how these designers run their events from the planning process to every last detail.

Colleen would love to work with David Tutera on any of his “fair weddings!” In her meetings with Mr. Tutera himself where she was David’s assistant, Colleen was told just to contact his people, no problem, he would love to have her!   How amazing would it be to spend time with a famous icon like David? Just ask the founder of Fairy Godmother!

Colleen’s second bucket list designer would be Colin Cowie! Can you imagine all the beautiful florals she would get to organize? Amazing!

This fairy wish is not too far fetched, either!  Colleen has had the ultimate pleasure of meeting Mr. Cowie at the very private ISSE Conference in Carmel where she got to have lunch with him. He even advised her who to get in touch with to help coordinate one of his events, does it get much cooler than that!?

While being a part of the Bakersfield Boss Ladies and serving on the Executive Board for the Bakersfield Women’s Business Conference, it’s no surprise that our Fairy Godmother Colleen loves to support women in this business!   Kristin Banta is no exception, as another one of Colleen’s bucket list designers!    Colleen had the pleasure of taking a class from Karen at the ISSE Conference in Carmel where Kristin shared so many crazy and fun stories of past events she had done in the Los Angeles area.

Indoor or outdoor, no detail is spared for any Kristin Banta planned event! The attention to detail is something that Colleen idolizes, how perfect to think of every little thing!

Check out Kristin’s blog for more of her amazing details!

Colleen would even do these events for merely the experience! She would love to be able to enjoy their “out of the box” thinking in real life.

Can you imagine how fun the experience would be to work with three of the most amazing designers in the industry?!

Colleen cannot wait to finally make these dreams a reality!

Wedding Wednesday – You’re Engaged, Two Weeks From Your Big Day, Now What?

We know that you have already chosen your DJ or band for your big day, but what will they play??

DJ John from AllSound Music

If you’re more of a rock ‘n roll kind of couple, you probably won’t be too thrilled with your DJ if he only plays country. To some, this would be considered their ultimate nightmare, even!

DJ Jeff Woods

Now that you are just two weeks away from your big day, you want to be sure that you contact your DJ with a list of your preferred song titles, artists you enjoy, or at the very least, a genre to help keep things rolling smoothly for you!

Fairy Godmother Cassandra with AllSound Music

While your DJ may be okay with it, you don’t want to bombard your DJ every time a song pops into your head that you have to have on your playlist. Instead, maybe keep a list and update them once a week or so. This would also be an ideal time to make sure your DJ has your “Do Not Play” list, along with the clear communication of how requests will be handled, if you choose to do so.

Magical Monday- Private Residence Wedding in Bakersfield California

Jeana and James’ wedding was one full of family and loving touches.
Fairy Godmother Colleen had the pleasure of being their Fairy Godmother. When asked Colleen would describe Jeana as being “super smart, strong, darling, great laugh and fun” and James as “kind, down to earth and what I remember most is they truly love each other.”

Jeana chose her wedding colors because it reminded her of the beach and something tropical, all things warm and pretty.

Check out the pearls on those shoes!! Fairies are always fans of pearls.

Fairy Godmother Friday – Fairy Bucket Lists!

Everyone has their bucket list items, but when you’re a Fairy Godmother you have your very own bucket list events! For this Fairy Godmother Friday, we asked Fairy Godmother Marissa what her dream events would be!

When most people say “tea party” their minds go straight to the Victorian ages with big hats and fluffy dresses and with every detail being elegant and proper. Marissa’s ideal tea party is similar, but with her own added touch of fairy dust!

While staying with the vintage theme, she would add an eclectic splash with mismatched cups and saucers, using teapots as vases for flowers and other floral decor, and feeding her guests with miniature appetizers, fruit tarts, and let’s not forget the delicious macaroons!

Marissa has a knack for the Victorian age that we absolutely adore! Her second bucket list event would be that of a masquerade ball, preferably hosted as a New Year’s Eve event.

Without holding back, Marissa would include vintage decor, upholding a strictly opulent atmosphere and without sparing a single detail. A band of some sort would be a must, and all attendees would be required to thread themselves in tuxedos and divine gowns!

Who doesn’t love the thought of a pure white wedding?! Marissa’s dream would be to coordinate a “Winter Wonderland” themed wedding! Picture every detail in white, sparkling crystals and twinkle lights surrounding, and did we mention sparkles everywhere??

Using pine cones, twigs, faux fur and other natural elements to accent the event, Marissa even would use her fairy magic to have snow fall during the first dance!

Wedding Wednesday – You’re Engaged, One Month From Your Big Day, Now What?

In the early stages of planning, you locked in your vendors. You went through the color palettes, you went to tastings from potential caterers, and now it’s your time to give your hair and make-up vendors a go!

Why is it important to have a test run for these vanity items, you ask? Simply because you want to be absolutely sure without having to do and re-do anything on your wedding day, that you will look just as you have always dreamed of with no surprises!

Make-up credit to L’lash Dolls Make-Up

Your make-up trial is important because you want to make sure that your skin tone matches with what your artist has supplied. Some brides may select one tone when they initially book, but after some tanning it may not be the best fit anymore. You are able to see and choose your choices of things like eyeliner, fake eyelashes, and eyeshadow colors.

How your hair is styled will vastly depend on the style of your dress. If your dress has sleeves, or a high neckline, you may choose to have your hair in some sort of “up-do” whereas with a strapless dress, you may choose to have your hair down, curled or have some sort of braid accent.

While your hair style will be a major factor to you, it is also crucial to include your veil in your decision. If you are using a simple and elegant hairpiece or a veil as long as your dress’ train, you want to be sure that it is properly secured.
