Venue Coordinator vs. Wedding Planner – Magical Monday

Happy, happy “Magical Monday!”

It’s been quite a long while since we have shared about just what exactly we do here at Fairy Godmother, so let us tell you what differentiates a wedding planner from a venue coordinator.

Fairy Godmother Baby Shower

A “Venue Coordinator”, also known as a “site coordinator,” is someone assigned to your event from your venue. While this person has you in their interests, their loyalty lies with their venue. The Venue Coordinator takes care of things like the tables, chairs, the grounds, etc. not necessarily you or your guests. Venue Coordinators do not attend your wedding if it is offsite, they do not assist with pushy guests or uncooperative bridesmaids, and they do not help design and plan your wedding day.

A “Wedding Planner” Your Wedding Planner is with you on your day, and those leading up to, and even soon after! A Wedding Planner is there to help you not only plan your wedding, but also to design the overall style of your day. Lighting, linens and florals are aspects that a planner ensures reflect your desired theme is portrayed correctly. Wedding Planners not only keep a balanced register of costs, but they will also attend meetings with D.J.’s, caterers, venues, etc. to assist in the planning process, in it’s entirety.

The wedding industry has taken the fast track when it comes to implementing new programs, new techniques and new ways to continue advancement. In addition to creating new ways for things to run smoother and more efficiently, the industry has modified job titles and descriptions so there is no grey area to what should be expected.

“Wedding Day Management,” previously known as “Day Of Coordinator,” is sometimes all you need! A “Day Of” coordinator is running the event just as you planned it, while doing it seamlessly! Your wedding day manager is more than their title, they are your mediator, orchestrator, consultant, organizer and friend all in one! Managers also create detailed timelines for your wedding day, along with pre-wedding day appointments to compose a clear and mutual understanding of how you want your wedding day to be.

The main goal is to provide clients with the difference of these titles, as they are most often incredibly misconstrued.

Here at Fairy Godmother, our goal is to provide the most magical day possible for our clients through the execution of collaboration with clients, their families, and vendors. Together, we share the common goal of providing impeccable memories through a perfectly seamless event.

At Fairy Godmother, “we bring a fairytale feeling to everything we do.”

David & Serena Hair – Fairy Godmother Client Appreciation

It’s another magical Fairy Godmother Friday in Fairy Land!

We hope that you have loosened those belt buckles and are enjoying your Thanksgiving week!

For this client appreciation, we would like to share about our dear clients turned friends…        David and Serena Hair!

Hair Family

Our friendship first began just a few years ago when Serena reached out to Fairy Godmother needing help planning a birthday party for her three boys!

When we first began planning for the Hair family, we met Serena at her home and gathered at her kitchen table. As we sat, their great dane named Blue was checking us out. A great protector!

In fact, the first party that Fairy Godmother ever planned for the boys was themed around Blue!

This birthday party was even before little Parker ever joined in on the Hair family fun.

We are proud to say the party was a great success!

Themed completely around the family’s great dane, Blue, it is safe to say that all of the guests had a “dog gone” good time!

Fairy Godmother is proud to say that we have continued on to do the Hair boys’ birthday party every year since, and we are currently planning the boys’ birthday party for the 6th year in a row! So fun to think that we started when the older boys were just 5 and 2 years old!

We crossed our fingers and toes hoping that Serena would call us in the next year, and we are happy to say that she did!

Such a fun family to plan for, hosting completely magical events year after year!

The events just keep getting better, we have planned everything from fire fighter theme to a day at the circus!

Just as the boys have, Fairy Godmother continues to grow! We are so fortunate to be the trusted planners for the Hair family, it is a true treasure to play such a big part in helping create these wonderful memories!

We LOVE working for Serena! She is fun, kind, organized, wonderful friend, mother and wife.  She loves tennis, charity work for 4 legged kids, her Florida Gators and family. Serena has so much love for her 4 boys, and of course their four legged fur baby!

It’s an honor Serena to work for you thank you for the most amazing and fun 5+ years of party planning we are so honored and adore you and your family.

The Fairies are forever thankful, but we asked a few of the Fairy Godmother team what they were thankful for in business and in their personal lives!

Colleen said…

I am thankful for so many things in this business.  Thankful for every client that says “yes to Fairy Godmother”, that trust us with their very special day, whether it be their wedding, a birthday, company party, or special event.  Thankful for the wonderful team of “friendor’s” I have mad.  But most of all I am thankful for my team.  I cannot begin to express what they mean to me.  We work hard, play hard and laugh a lot.  We are successful because of them.  I adore each of them and love all of their unique strengths they bring to our clients, our team and to each other.

I am thankful in my personal life for a loving husband that supports me in both my Bank life and in my Fairy life, for a son that I am so proud of living on his own far from home and thriving, for all of my family whom I wished lived closer, I love when we are all together. I am thankful for my friends.

I am thankful to have found my purpose in life, to coach and mentor others, to believe in them before they believe in themselves.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Janet said…

I am most thankful for my wonderful, loving and supportive family! I am so very thankful for this wonderful life I have been given.
I am thankful for the opportunity to be a part of the Fairy Godmother team. I have learned so much this past year and have met some very amazing people in the area of wedding and event planning. The support and encouragement of the team and my mentors have helped me to strive and work to be the best I can be and for that I am so very thankful. From the brides and the clients I have come in contact with, I am thankful for the opportunity to meet each and every one of you!

TJ said…

Wow! Where to start…

I am thankful for my phenomenal support system, without them I would be totally lost in translation. I am thankful for my health, the opportunities I have been provided, and the amazing people I get to call friends.

In business, I am thankful for this wonderful new endeavor I have found myself on. I am thankful to go to a “job” where work and fun are most often the same thing, and my co-workers have turned into family.

There are 171,476 documented words in the English language, and I don’t have enough of them to express my true gratitude to all the things, and people, who have helped shape who I am today.

Hathaway Ranch – Fairy Godmother Client Appreciation

Just a few years ago, Fairy Godmother was hired by the sweetest couple who needed help planing their 2013 Super Bowl party!

Little did we know that this one time gig would turn into a friendship that we are forever thankful for!

Fairy Godmother Open House – Magical Monday

In honor of the upcoming 20th Street Cottage Christmas Open House, we are dedicating this “Magical Monday” to all of our previous events!

fgm-logo-2014

Our “fairy” first Open House that Fairy Godmother ever held was at our Truxtun Avenue office back in 2013!

This event was held to thank all of our clients, friends, and team for their hard work and dedication to the creation of Fairy Godmother! One of the ways that Fairy Godmother found to give back to the community that helped build our company that we love so much!

We know that our friends and clients love food just as much as we do!

Fairy guests indulged in sweet bites and treats from De Coeur Bake Shop and Cassandra’s Sweet Treats! Fun and festive names were given for the occasion, and could they be any more perfect?!

Don’t forget the fairy dust!

To make the very first Fairy Godmother Open House even more special, there was a special announcement to be made…

This Open House is where the Fairy Godmother Foundation made it’s debut!

While the Open House was one way that Colleen and Fairy Godmother found to give back to the community that built the business, the Fairy Godmother Foundation was even more so!

The Fairy Godmother Foundation donates one wedding to a deserving couple in need. The couple must be facing life altering circumstances that have caused them to otherwise put their wedding day on hold.

The Fairy Godmother Foundation was born!

After the Fairy Godmother team outgrew their quaint little office on Truxtun, it was time for a move.

Where could we share our fun ideas and quirks with our clients that would still have that same “home sweet home” feel?

Just like magic, Colleen just so happen to drive by a little corner house that needed a little love.

And, you guessed it, some fairy dust!

Jack & Carolyn Pandol – Fairy Godmother Client Appreciation

This week, we are dedicating our “Fairy Godmother Friday” to one of the most caring and generous couples around… Jack and Carolyn Pandol!

Jack & Carolyn Pandol

We just met the Pandol family a few years ago after Carolyn reached out to us to help plan her annual Christmas party. With just a few weeks to plan, the Fairy Godmother team fluttered their wings and spread their magic.

The party was a great success!

 Jack & Carolyn Pandol

We had secretly hoped to work with Carolyn again, she was so fun and classy!

And we are happy to say that we did!

Jack & Carolyn Pandol

From the Christmas party, we have gone on to plan and design many others!

Including BCHS fundraisers and welcome dinners, Carolyn’s very special birthday party, the grand opening of The Grapery’s new cold storage facility, the International Fruit Genetics dinner, and we assisted with the services for our dear friend, the late Susie Friesen.

JEH Ranch Outdoor Bakersfield Wedding – Magical Monday

The Fairy Godmother team has been busy spreading fairy magic, and on October 8th the team headed for the hills!

Just on the edge of Bakersfield, JEH Ranch is nestled in the North East side of town right along the Kern River. Amongst the luscious grounds, complete with a saloon, Natalie and Jon exchanged vows surrounded by family and friends.

Upon arrival, guests were given fan programs to help beat the end-of-summer Bakersfield heat.

This genius invention also helped guests stay in the “loop” of how the evening would transpire, and let guests know “who’s who” in the wedding party.

Natalie was a such a gorgeous bride, inside and out she was a complete joy to plan with!

We just adore these fabulous photographs of Natalie by Boone & Stacie!

The way she looks at this bouquet is how every bride should look on their wedding day, and of course, we love a good over the shoulder photo!

Love is a lot of things, and we are true believers that a photograph is worth 1,000 words!

When Jon and Natalie did their first look, Jon was completely floored with emotion as he saw Natalie for the first time.

We got to witness all the “feels” that filled JEH Ranch in this moment, and we would be fibbing if we said it didn’t bring a tear to our eye! If you have ever had the opportunity to witness true love, you know exactly what we are saying when we say that the love that Natalie and Jon share is truly “picture perfect!”

We love tender moments, Jon was the perfect example of how every groom should be at the first sight of his beautiful bride.

There are no words to describe the love that was illustrated by those sharing in the magical moment as Natalie and Jon said “I do,” it is truly indescribable.

We could not have dreamed of a better day, the sun was shining, the river flowed smoothly, and there was a light breeze. There was no better scene for a magical wedding day!

A bride and her girls are everything! It’s even more when the groom gets in on it, too!

This bridal party was an absolute joy to work with, from beginning to end they all expressed their love for the other… Our bridesmaids loved how happy Jon made Natalie, and our groomsmen had never seen Jon happier.

These florals were absolutely flawless! The perfect flower combination to satisfy the color palette, just enough greenery, and topped off with flowing ribbons. Talk about aesthetically pleasing!

Welcoming Magdalena Cruz – Fairy Godmother Friday

It is with only the greatest pleasure that we welcome Magdalena Cruz to the 20th Street Cottage!

Grandchildren are always so very special, but Camila brought something more unique to her family.

Camila was born with a rare heart disease which not only brought the immediate family closer, but also created a more tight-knit quilt of friends and extended family!

Magdalena found her passion for photography on complete accident.

When returning to school in 1999, her professors pushed for her to try different paths and guided her through dark room photography and then onto graphic arts where she excelled. In 2001 Magdalena put her passion to work opening her first studio.

Magdalena Cruz Photography

Magdalena being a California native left a photographer’s footprint on Porterville and Visalia before settling in Bakersfield just a few years ago.

Magdalena says that she is so blessed to have worked with so many different individuals, families, and organizations throughout her career. She credits many of her friendships to these connections, and is so happy to be in profession where friendships continue to blossom.

Magdalena Cruz Photography

Magdalena Cruz Photography

She credits the “family feeling” of her business to the fact that many of her clients return as they begin families, and hit special milestones in their lives. Her strong belief in preserving the “family legacy” is where she feels that full-service photography studios are most important.

Magdalena Cruz Photography

Magdalena Cruz Photography

For Magdalena, it is her belief that photographs are to “live” amongst us, and that a photograph should find it’s way past the computer or phone. This is why she not only captures these timeless images, but also produces the images into products for her clients.

“The journey has just begun!” and we are so excited that we will get to share our cozy little cottage with such talent!

We would also love to wish Magdalena a “fairy”

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!”

 on Saturday, November 5th!
