Responsibilities of the Maid of Honor

Responsibility of the Maid of Honor

Being chosen as the Maid of Honor is just that, an honor. However, the job doesn’t end at giving a toast or holding the bride’s dress in the bathroom. The Maid of honor is usually the best friend or sister of the bride and has a vast amount of responsibilities from planning the bachelorette party to just being there for moral support.

  • Lead the troops. It’s the maid of honor’s job to direct the other maids through their duties.
  • Help with the dress shopping process.
  • Give honest opinions about colors, cake designs, dresses, flowers, etc.
  • Inform guests of where the bride and groom are registered.
  • Arrange for storage of the wedding dress during the honeymoon.
  • Always lend an ear. Be the one the bride can go to for questions and listen to her needs.
  • Host bridal shower.
  • Be in charge of making sure the bridal party arrives to rehearsal and other gatherings.
  • Plan the bachelorette party.
  • Keep a record of all the gifts received at various parties and showers.
  • Hold the groom’s ring during the ceremony. Safest place to put it? On your thumb!
  • Along with the best man, sign the marriage license as a witness.
  • Hold the bride’s bouquet during the ceremony.
  • Make sure the bride eats! A hungry bride means a grumpy bride.
  • Make a toast.
  • Keep the bride laughing. Laughter can be the cure for a stressed-out bride.
