Perfect Wedding Planner Proposal – Fairy Godmother Friday

Today’s the day, it’s finally here!

It’s “Fairy Godmother Friday!”

There is nothing greater than sharing joyous news about our fabulous Fairy Godmother family…

With that being said… We are so excited to announce that our very own Fairy Godmother Cassandra said “Yes!” when her beau got down on one knee!

Plenty of planning and preparation went into this surprise engagement, friends and family were in the know for roughly five months!

After minor detours in day-of execution, Jeremy, with the help of his secret helpers, had set into motion a plan for the perfect surprise proposal right in downtown Los Angeles at the Cliff’s Edge restaurant.

It would not have been appropriate for our dear Cassandra if there weren’t a few of her favorite things involved… This includes, you guessed it, confetti cannons!!

Cassandra wouldn’t have had just any confetti, only the best… And the most eco-friendly… EcoParti

Not only was Cassandra surprised with an entire lifetime of love and happiness, she was also surprised by her closest family and friends!

Aside from her family and friends making the trek from Bakersfield to Los Angeles for this grand event, our dear friend Allison Claire of Allison Claire Photography was hiding in the nearby stairwell to capture the best shots!

In case you think we are kidding, she was actually hiding in the stairs and had to move actual objects to remain unseen, but with the perfect view!

We are SO happy for our dearest Cassandra and we welcome her fiance Jeremy to the family of Fairy Godmother!

Congratulations, Cassandra and Jeremy!!

Kevin Rush Entertainment – Fairy Godmother Friday

Are you planning a wedding? Have you considered attending a bridal show, but aren’t sure where to start?

Join us this coming Sunday, June 11th at 11:00am until 3:00pm at the Bakersfield Petroleum Club for another fabulous Kevin Rush Entertainment Bridal Expo! To ease your check in process, tickets may be purchased in advance here!

Kevin Rush Entertainment Bridal Expo Fairy Godmother

This event will have some of Central California’s most elite vendors ready to give you the wedding day advice and guidance that you have been looking for.

Attending any large event, like a bridal show, can be overwhelming. There is a lot going on, and you feel like a fish in deepest sea, but it doesn’t have to be that way.

If this will be your first bridal expo, or if you want to make the best of this event… Fairy Godmother has compiled a list of a few tips and tricks to help!

Kevin Rush Entertainment Bridal Expo Fairy Godmother

First things first.

Call your squad. Get your bridal party together, and maybe include some of those family members who have smaller roles in your planning process, and head on over to the Petroleum Club! A few perks of attending these events with your crew is that they may help you remember things long after the day has ended, and of course, they can help you carry away some of the giveaway loot that you will obtain as you mosey from booth to booth!

Going from booth to booth, everyone will want you to join their mailing list, try for their raffle drawing, and of course, to get more information! One of the easiest and most convenient ways for you to do this without getting completely over writing your information over and over is to print labels! These labels can be your normal address labels off the computer with the following information…

  • Couple’s Names
  • Wedding/Event Date
  • Venue (If you have one)
  • Email Address

Now, you may be totally fine with giving all of this information, but have you ever actually cleared out your inbox…? By creating an email account strictly for your wedding day activities is easy and will keep your personal inbox so nice and tidy post wedding day! Think about it… Every venue you have inquired about…. Every caterer… Every limo service… You can see it now, that little icon hitting the 1,000 emails mark long after your big day. Make it easy, and after your wedding you can delete the account and carry on without seeing wedding style trends as you celebrate ten years of marriage.

Fairy Godmother Colleen and Fairy Godfather TJ with Angela of Enchanted Bridal!

Finally, don’t be afraid to mingle and socialize! You aren’t marrying these potential vendors right then! You want to get to know your potential vendors, learn about their business, find out what makes them successful in their field!

Fairy Godmother Team Event Producers by Makenzie Photography

Most of all, come see us! Stop by the Fairy Godmother booth and let us learn all about your fairytale day!

If you can’t make it to the show, drop us an inquiry here and we can set up a time to go over everything when it’s most convenient for you.

Congratulations! You’re Engaged, Now What…? – Magical Monday

Happy, happy “Magical Monday” from Fairy Land!

We are so thrilled that you have stayed with us during our series for the newly engaged, “Congratulations! You’re Engaged, Now What…?”

This week we are still roughly about 8-10 months away from your magical day, and the planning hasn’t stopped!

Now that you have said “Yes!” to the dress, it’s time to get your bridesmaids their dresses!

First things first. It’s crucial when considering the type of dress to put your favorite ladies in, to think of their body types. You wouldn’t want to put anyone in something that they didn’t feel comfortable in, or wouldn’t buy themselves. These dresses are what you want to compliment your stunning gown, whether it be simple or over the top elegant. Make it simple and significant and it will all work out!

Consider your day when selecting styles or color, if you’re having a winter hill-top countryside mountain wedding, the short cocktail dress in neon pink with super puffy sleeves may not be for you… And if it is, totally go for it! Be sure that just because you like something that it actually works with your vision for your wedding day.

Consult your wedding day squad about their budget! This is important. You would never want to put your bridesmaids in a pinch in order to stand by you as you begin the first day of forever. Be sensitive to their needs, but this is your day. If you have a dream and a vision that you are sticking to, don’t let your guard down. Your ladies, and gents, will understand.

From the moment bridesmaids dresses are ordered to the moment the final alterations are all finalized could be about 5-6 months. This means it is imperative that you get your orders submitted in a timely fashion, but also so that the colors all match! Some companies end up having to make dresses as they sell out to fill the demand, and sometimes the next batch of dresses may be a little off in the color of the dye they use.

It’s time for “the talk.”

Picture this… It’s wedding day! You have tried on your dress with your shoes, you have had your mock-up of your hair done… You know exactly how you are going to look! But… one small rather significant detail… Undergarments. Straps, lines, you don’t want them!

Be sure to consider what you will need in order for the dress to look just as you, and your bride, intended!

If you would like some fairy dust to assist in your dress-shopping needs, contact us today!

Fairy Godmother Assistants – Fairy Godmother Friday

Happy “Fairy Godmother Friday!”

This week, we have a very special post about our fantastic team of assistants!

Fairy Godmother Logo

In the years that Fairy Godmother has been around, it was built literally from the ground up.

The company began when Fairy Godmother’s owner and lead Event Producer, Colleen Bauer, had a vision.

The goal was to execute magically designed events, giving our clients the best possible experience, and leaving that “Fairytale feeling everywhere we go.”

Well, it worked!

Over 7 years later, the company now has a core team of six Event Producers, all specializing in planning and designing magical events!

Fairy Godmother Assistants Fairy Godmother Assistants Sara and Shannon

Here we grow, again!

With growth, comes greatness…

Allowing our lead event producers to focus on their events, day of and leading up to the day, is our main priority.

With some events having teams of 10 plus people needed for setup, the Fairy Godmother took flight into a new adventure!

Fairy Godmother Assistants Sara and Shannon

Fairy Godmother Assistants

Our Fairy Godmother assistants are more than just our team…. They are a part of our family! These are people that we trust with our entire being as we put our events in their hands. It’s very similar to finding someone to watch your newborn child, or your fur baby… We hand over our events whether it be set up or assisting, and are able to share our vision and let it come to life so we can give our couple our full attention without compromising their dream.

What is one of the best parts of our fabulous team of assistants? That a majority of them are past or current Fairy Godmother brides (and grooms!). They were so in love with their day, and all that was done for them, that they have joined in to help make other couples’ days just as magical.

We take pride in our team as they reflect the values and morale and uphold the repertoire that Fairy Godmother has built for itself in the last several years.

Red, White & True Blue! – Magical Monday

Happy Memorial Day from all of us here at Fairy Godmother!

If you’ve been thinking of ways to kick off your summer with a little patriotism, we have got the perfect styled shoot for you!

This classic piece of America has some of the best, and tastiest treats to make sure that your guests cool off in the best way possible.

What better way to make your tablescape pop with all the best patriotic elements than pop up shapes, bright colored napkins and patterned wooden utensils! All is right in the world when you can successfully pull off mix-matched patterns, we think they make for a great conversation starter and even better centerpiece.

A drink station is essential for any summer-time event, and what could be better than a berry and fruit infused water carafe? Adding a little “structure” to your setup can be done easily with colored glassware, perfection!

If you are looking for something a little bit sweeter, Jones soda makes the perfect conversation starter. We think that the blue Jones soda fit in with our patriotic theme absolutely perfectly!

Top it off with a decorative straw and you are all set!

If there was anything that could make an American day outside a little more festive, we figured it would be a 1954 Chevy pickup!

While yellow may not fit in the American-themed color palette, we think that this sweet ride accented the day just right!

A truck has many purposes, but we think that this was the sweetest place for the sweets!

Homemade sweet treats included sprinkle-dipped marshmallows, cool-whip strawberry triangles, and patriotic-inspired cookies by The Cookie Monger.

To see more of this styled shoot, see our feature on Home Confetti!

We hope that you have found some holiday inspiration for your next event, and of course if you would like some assistance in your planning your next event, contact Fairy Godmother today!

California Wedding Day – Fairy Field Trip – Fairy Godmother Friday

As you may already know, or will soon find out, the Fairy Godmother family absolutely LOVES doing fun things.

After all, that is one of the reasons why we are in this “happy business!”

So, in normal Fairy fashion when we heard that California Wedding Day would be hosting their awards in Los Angeles, we knew we had to go!

A little about the awards…

“The votes are in for California Wedding Day’s annual awards program, Best of 2017, honoring the most innovative and creative talent in the wedding industry from Los Angeles, Orange County, Ventura/Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo. Best of 2017 delivers the long deserved recognition for the trailblazers in Southern California’s wedding industry. The finalists were chosen by their peers through an open voting process held online at californiaweddingday.com. Veteran wedding professionals, brides and the editorial staff of California Wedding Day magazine cast their selections for the top-notch professionals working in Southern California.” – CWD

The Fairies made a pitstop for the famous, “Fairy Fuel,” also known as Starbucks and we headed South.

All buckeled in for our Fairy Field Trip!

Arriving at the Vibiana was a fabulous experience!

We were greeted with open doors and valet, now that is a first impression that we can work with!

The Fairy Godmother squad when they arrived at the Vibiana. The ladies were dressed in Enchanted Bridal exclusives, Cassndra rocking her gown from Apricot Lane Bakersfield, and TJ was “Fino Fresh” thanks to Fino’s Menswear!

Upon entry, we were greeted by stewardess-inspired hosts and hostesses serving gourmet appetizers… octopus and hand-compressed watermelon, duck bill tacos, and loaded chicken sliders.

Following the awards conclusion, we made our way to the after party… But not without congratulating one of our favorite event planners in the industry… Kristin Banta of Kristin Banta Events!

California Wedding Day Awards Fairy Godmother at the Vibiana

Congratulations Kristin on your award!

Back inside the Vibiana, the party had just begun!

If you haven’t already heard of the “Silent Disco” let us tell you just how fun it was!

California Wedding Day Awards Fairy Godmother at the Vibiana

In many places that have sound restrictions, like Los Angeles, the clients never wanted to end their party early… what better way to keep it going than with headphones!?!

We know it sounds a bit strange, but guests are given headphones and the party continues.

California Wedding Day Awards Fairy Godmother at the Vibiana

What’s even better, is to watch the crowd without headphones on!

You don’t hear anything, but you see everyone getting down on the dancefloor… it was so much fun!

At the CWD Best of 2017, they changed the game up!

There were three DJ’s up in front, each had their turntables a specific color to match the headphones. It was so fun to see people change their music selection to all participate in the “cha cha slide” and other fun dances.

Drinks were served in mix-matched glassware that gave the evening even more personality.

The specialty cocktails were a total hit all night long!

Fun drinks in specialty glassware was just one of the hits of the evening!

We love new experiences, and this was just so fun! Not to mention in addition to our friend Kristin winning “Best of 2017” for Event Planning… Our very own friendor, Patrick Ang, won best videographer!

Congratulations! You’re Engaged, Now What…? – Magical Monday

As we continue our series for the recently engaged, we are now about 5-7 months away from saying “I do!”

With the wheels of wedding planning picking up their speed, it is now the most beautiful time in the process to select your florist!

Florals by House of Flowers. Photography by Shelli Renee.

Florals by House of Flowers. Photography by Shelli Renee.

In order to make this process a little bit easier for you, we have compiled a list of key facts and tips in order to aid your way through.

First things first, as we have mentioned with just about every vendor selection…. BUDGET! Know what you are willing to invest in your wedding day for each category, and make sure those budgets add up in line with your ultimate wedding day investment. This should be one of your very first starting points when meeting with potential florists. You don’t want to waste any of their time, or your own time, with unrealistic possibilities.

Focus on what will work for you!

Next up, have an idea of what you are interested in! If you walk in with just a budget in mind, but lack any sort of direction towards your wedding day vision- you are going to be pulling a wild card when you meet with florists. Now, we aren’t saying that the florist will not work with you, but we are saying you may find it a bit more challenging in taking this route, versus showing your vendor what you have interest in.

Providing them with a vision, or storyboard, gives them the leeway to adjust and personalize your desires in ways you hadn’t even imagined!

According to WeddingWire, couples should use their bouquet (if applicable) for a reference point in their floral decisions, as your bouquet is the statement floral piece!

There are a few common faux paus in modern age when it comes to wedding day florals.

The first we can thank Pinterest as clients try to have their inspiration replicated- this leads to immediate disappointment when it doesn’t go as planned. We want to avoid this through you having an open mind! Be open to new colors, floral types, and of course, new styles! Think of everything included in your big day, and how the florals will fit in.

Think of choosing florals as trying on a bunch of dresses (which we are sure you have already done!), there may be a style of flower that you haven’t seen yet. Let your florist use their knowledge and experience to help guide you through this process, after all, they are to be your trusted professional!

If you would love some fairy magic for your magical day, contact Fairy Godmother and let the Fairies help you!

May’s Collaboration of Creative Partners Luncheon – Fairy Godmother Friday

April showers bring May flowers, but they also brought us our May Collaboration of Creative Partners Luncheon!

Fairy Godmother Collaboration of Creative Partners Logo

Specialty logo design by Matinae Design Studio.

Fairy Godmothers Colleen and Cassandra took a “fairy field trip” one day, and as many of you may know, some of our best ideas come from long car rides!

This “Fairy Field Trip” was actually a very special event! It was an exclusive, invitation-only conference put on by Stacie Francombe. Another invitee was none other than the famous Colin Cowie, Colin is best known for celebrity weddings and events. In one of Colin’s speeches, he said that our vendors are much more than the word leads us to believe, and that they are truly “Creative Partners!”

Just like that the “Collaboration of Creative Partners” luncheons were born.

This month’s luncheon was hosted at the one and only, NV Catering!

This lunch was not only tasty and filling, but also a chance for all of us to get together outside of the wedding and event industry.

Without luncheons like this, we would never have found out that two of our guests knew eachother from their previous jobs in radio! Donna from the Italian Heritage Hall and Kevin of Kevin Rush Entertainment spent years together at cool concerts, who would have thought they would reconnect years later in the wedding business?!

We learned that Nannette of Custom Creations started with simple gifts for teachers and friends and brought her loving husband Marcos into the mix to help!

Theresa of Theresa Wooner Photography wants to set the perfect image and achieve goals for her children to look up to, Megan from Elevate Hair Studio used to work with children with special needs, and that Chef Nate started out piece by piece until he could own his own restaurant!

We would never have found these fun facts out without our luncheon, which is just one reason why we keep them going! To learn more about each other and watch other collaborations blossom!
