Congratulations! You’re Engaged, Now What…? – Magical Monday

Yay! You’re engaged, now what?!

At this point in our series, we are about 8-10 months away from one of the best days of your life!

In the midst of selecting your wedding day vendors, there are some other details to pick out.

One of the first selections will be what your wedding party will wear.

Dresses and tuxedos… The options are endless!

Fairy Godmother Wedding Attire

There are a few things to remember when selecting your wedding party’s attire! One is that your wedding party is the face of your wedding, they will be in majority of your photos, and most of all- you don’t want to be the couple that made their wedding party wear something atrocious!

When it comes to your bridesmaids, you want to make sure that their gowns won’t upstage your bride while remaining cohesive with the style. Whether you personally select each person’s attire or give them free reign, you have to have some sort of direction regarding wardrobe, after all it is your wedding day!

Groomsmen are a bit more simple, with a lot less wiggle room as far as accessories and wardrobe choices are concerned. A solid color tux, or suit, accented with a color relative to the wedding decor makes it easy and still looks great!

If you’re more of a relaxed, carefree couple you may consider deciding on a color scheme and let your wedding party decide on their own outfits.

It is important to keep in mind your party’s body types, budgets, and personalities in mind. We all know that there is nothing worse than being stuck in something that you feel extremely uncomfortable in.

Let Fairy Godmother help plan your big day, not only plan, but to share our advice on proper wedding party wardrobe for your magical day! Contact us to schedule your consultation!

Collaboration of Creative Partners April Luncheon – Fairy Godmother Friday

We love the phrase “Community Over Competition,” which is simply described as “getting to the top by building others up!”

Fairy Godmother was born here in Bakersfield, what we like to call the “biggest small town,” and we first grew simply by word of mouth. There was no advertising, our growth was directly correlated to referrals of past clients, guests, and friends.

Fairy Godmother Collaboration of Creative Partners Luncheon

Part of this business is education. We attend conferences, and are even invited to special events with the most elite vendors in the business. At one conference in particular, ISSE in Carmel, Fairy Godmothers Colleen and Cassandra were rubbing elbows with the one and only Colin Cowie.

At this conference, Colin shared that our vendors are SO much more than just your caterer, or your photographer… They are our friends! We are all in this together and that we should let that show by calling them “friendors.”

If you have been witness to a “Fairy Field Trip” you should know that more than one creative mind with a notepad on the move is just a pinch of the fairy dust that Fairy Godmother offers. The ideas were brewing and viola, the “Collaboration of Creative Partners” luncheon was born.

Paper Product by Matinae Design Studio.

Once a month, the Fairy Godmother family invites a handful of guests to share an intimate lunch and allows for this table of “friendors” to talk and share stories outside of our events and meetings!

At our most recent April luncheon, we learned that Stephanie of Gimme Some Sugar Bakery got her name from her grandma always saying “come here and gimme some sugar!” Marianne of Marianne Lucas Photography used to be a Supervisor in the Kern High School District before taking her leap of faith into full-time photography. Angela and Patricia of Enchanted Bridal Boutique find their greatest happiness in putting their brides in their dream dresses. Christina of Kwik Signs is a super mom and loves organization, Teresa of Jo Ron Co. finds love in working within the community, and Amy of Alpha Omega Valet Services took over her business and employs orphan and foster youth, some of whom come from her full-time job at CASA of Kern County

Wands full of thanks from all of us at Fairy Godmother, we appreciate you all taking the time out of your day to join us, we know how valuable you are to your business!

Middle Earth-Inspired Wedding – Fairy Godmother Friday

The best part? The wedding was inspired by the Lord of the Rings trilogy. This was a wedding that Erin & Shelby’s guests would soon not forget!

The Fairies weren’t the only things that took a roadtrip… The gorgeous bouquet was from Downtown Bakersfield created by the one and only House of Flowers!

The middle earth decor at the reception site was compiled of centerpieces referencing the couple’s favorite scenes from Lord of the Rings, elfish candle wraps by Matinae Design Studio, and elements of the wilderness.

Easter Brunch – Fairy Godmother Friday

For this “Fairy Godmother Friday” we want to help you get ready for your Easter brunch!

We loved designing our Easter collaboration, with a fabulous team of “friendors” we were able to bring out the best that springtime had to offer!

First things first.

You will have to gather some holiday décor, but don’t fret! You probably have everything you need right in the comfort of your own home.

Starting with the simple things… A spring wreath, some Easter literature and egg ornaments are some of the more simple options that allow you to engulf your guests in this festive experience!

Now lets get hoppin’!

Invitations can be for all occasions! Invite your guests with the best paper products, remember less is more and simple is elegant!

At a proper table setting, napkins are purely a necessity. What if we took that necessity and turned into more… like bunny rabbit décor!

With the proper fold you can turn that boring old napkin into Mr. Cottontail himself, now how fun is that?!

Let’s talk about some of the rabbit food… Florals!

Flowers always steal the show, but what if there was just a little “something” more?

In our Fairy Godmother styled concept shoot, we added a lush basket of mixed greenery complete with tulips and even some cabbage!

Yummy bites with a bit of garnish add that much needed flare to bring out the green accents, juxtaposing the light yellow colors with the bright greens.

And what makes brunch taste even better? Yummy treats of course!

Chocolate covered bunnies and pastel ombré cakes make for the perfect dessert!

Of course, if you add a little festive wildlife you may have an even “hoppier” event!

While your brunch may be so elegantly exerted, we all know who which attendees will really steal the show!

Fairy Field Trip! Big Fake Wedding – Fairy Godmother Friday

This past week, the Fairy Godmother team was able to take a “Fairy Field Trip” to Los Angeles, California for the Big Fake Wedding

The Fairies loaded up and headed south! Don’t fret, we know every Starbucks better than GPS.

Fairy Godmother Field Trip

The Fairies never take a “Fairy Field Trip” without “Fairy Fuel!”

And of course, we all know that work knows no limits…

If this isn’t one depiction of the dedication our team has, we aren’t sure what is!

Fairies On The Go

Fairies On The Go!

Before heading out to the Big Fake Wedding, the Fairies had to check in at the historic Millennium Biltmore Hotel!

The Big Fake Wedding is a bridal show replacement that puts guests in the middle of a real-life wedding in order to fully immerse themselves in the wedding experience.

Big Fake Wedding

While it is a bridal show alternative, it is also a celebration of another wedding! Whether it be real wedding, vow renewal, or strictly scripted, The Big Fake Wedding has a purpose! The Big Fake Wedding Los Angeles was a celebration of Laura and Ethan, you can read more on their story here!

Okay, and let’s talk about how stunning this head table is!

Covered in floral arrangements, candles, and lanterns the mood was set!

At a bridal show, guests aren’t exactly able to see what the vendors have to offer, whereas at a wedding they are able to see things come full circle and see the vendors in action.

Talk about fun!

The guys over at Slow Motion Time Machine Photo Booth made sure that a great time was had by all!

We got to mingle with vendors such as Nifty Balloons, , Sweet E’s Bake Shop, and one of our personal favorites, Sugar Fairy Desserts!

Another “Fairy Favorite” was the husband and wife team behind “Nifty Balloons!” Their impeccable talent did not go unnoticed at the Big Fake Wedding, every guest could be found with some sort of balloon art. We just thought they were too fun to pass up!

Congratulations! You’re Engaged, Now What…? – Magical Monday

Congratulations on your new engagement!

For this happy time, it is imperative for the streamline (and your sanity) that you stay organized!

One of the best ways to stay organized is with a designated wedding binder!

One of the best reasons to stay organized is simply that you have enough to worry about, planning a wedding does not have to be stressful, and what way to make it easier than to have everything in a central location for easy access.

A fabulous quote we love to live by from Linnyette Richardson-Hall!

A fabulous quote we love to live by from Linnyette Richardson-Hall!

When you first begin your search for vendors, and other wedding day information, a wedding day e-mail address helps you keep all your “paperless” documents in one place! Wait for it… With a search bar, fabulous!

For anything that does not make it into your new “wedding only” binder, and anything that is in your new wedding day e-mail address, make sure that there is a specific “spot” for these goodies to stay out of oblivion.

Fairy Godmother Co planner

Even our younger guests like to be in the know!

Starting a checklist and setting aside time to plan is crucial to your wedding planning. This time to yourself gives you the opportunity to go over documents thoroughly and to jot down any questions that may arise from doing so.

Fairy Godmother

Fairy Godmother brides have their planning process, handled!

Looking to make this process even easier? Hire someone to take the reins and guide you through the maze of wedding planning!

A wedding planner will keep track of your day, from start to finish. Letting your planner be a backboard and central point in your planning process alleviates the stress on you, you get to continue with your normal day to day all while something so magical is in the works!

If you are looking for help planning your magical day, make Fairy Godmother your first call, we are all in!

Wedding Wednesday – It’s Your Big Day, Now What?

It’s your big day, and you are about to experience one of the best days of your life!

One thing that you will be doing on your wedding day is being treated like royalty! One of the many luxuries will be to have your hair and make-up done. The time leading up to your ceremony will be all about pampering you, with your photographer capturing every moment!

By this time you have already had run through sessions with your hair and make-up artists, so you know exactly what to expect! When you are getting your hair and make-up done, you want to be sure that you wear a coverup of some sort, whether it be a specialty robe or a button-down shirt!

Another major thing that is often forgotten is to be sure that if your stylist will not be staying with you the duration of your day, that you get a touch-up kit! A few other tips include waterproof mascara, durable lipstick for all those “kissable” moments, and of course, keep it simple but pretty.
