Easter Brunch – Fairy Godmother Friday

For this “Fairy Godmother Friday” we want to help you get ready for your Easter brunch!

We loved designing our Easter collaboration, with a fabulous team of “friendors” we were able to bring out the best that springtime had to offer!

First things first.

You will have to gather some holiday décor, but don’t fret! You probably have everything you need right in the comfort of your own home.

Starting with the simple things… A spring wreath, some Easter literature and egg ornaments are some of the more simple options that allow you to engulf your guests in this festive experience!

Now lets get hoppin’!

Invitations can be for all occasions! Invite your guests with the best paper products, remember less is more and simple is elegant!

At a proper table setting, napkins are purely a necessity. What if we took that necessity and turned into more… like bunny rabbit décor!

With the proper fold you can turn that boring old napkin into Mr. Cottontail himself, now how fun is that?!

Let’s talk about some of the rabbit food… Florals!

Flowers always steal the show, but what if there was just a little “something” more?

In our Fairy Godmother styled concept shoot, we added a lush basket of mixed greenery complete with tulips and even some cabbage!

Yummy bites with a bit of garnish add that much needed flare to bring out the green accents, juxtaposing the light yellow colors with the bright greens.

And what makes brunch taste even better? Yummy treats of course!

Of course, if you add a little festive wildlife you may have an even “hoppier” event!

While your brunch may be so elegantly exerted, we all know who which attendees will really steal the show!

Welcoming Explorer Travel & Tours! – Fairy Godmother Friday

The “Happiest Place in Bakersfield” has grown, again!

We are so excited to share that Leland and Pamela of Explorer Travel and Tours have joined us as our final tenants of the 20th Street Cottage community room, designed by Jamie Urner Interior Designs!

The purpose of a community room is to allow professionals the comfort of an office, without paying the office price.

These rooms are shared space that is there when they need them without trying to have a conversation over blenders, the normalities of a coffee shop, or other little nuances that may arise in public space.

Explorer Travel & Tours 20th Street Cottage

Leland and his gorgeous wife Pamela branched out of their daily lives to create something different. Leland being a professional firefighter and Pamela, a college professor, started Explorer Travel and Tours

20th Street Cottage Leland Davis

Leland and Pamela have one mission. It is simple and absolutely selfless… “This business allows us to help those who help others. We love to support church, mission, educational, and various charitable organizations with travel needs worldwide.”

 20th Street Cottage Leland Davis

Together, they began giving couples, and large groups, the trip of a lifetime through travel planning!

Their company, Explorer Travel & Tours, offers the best travel experience from start to finish that any company could!

20th Street Cottage Leland Davis

Leland hasn’t always been one of Bakersfield’s premier travel agents. In fact, Leland is one of Bakersfield’s lead fire engineers!

In addition to being successful, and generous, business owners, Leland and Pamela are incredibly active with their family! Taking trips and sharing experiences with their loved ones is a top priority.

On behalf of everyone at the 20th Street Cottage, we are proud to share our happy place with Explorer Travel and Tours!

A Very Pandol Christmas – Magical Monday

What a year it has been!

As 2016 has come to an end, we are able to reminisce about our past events!

Weddings, events, socials, baby showers, open houses… We love it all!

One of our last events of 2016 was the annual Pandol Christmas Open House!

Pandol Christmas Open House

Oh, how we love working so closely with Carolyn to plan her magical events. Carolyn and Jack let our creative freedom soar and this event proved to be no different!

Snow globes, a sneaky elf, and Mistletone magic were the hits of this party!

Carolyn finds the best ways to decorate for any occasion! The Pandol home is always warm and inviting, and dressed to the nines!

As guests arrived, they were greeted with heavy hors d’oeuvres and sent to the bar to select their beverage of choice.

Of course, there was also the hot coco bar for guests where they could spike their hot coco or coffee with cinnamon whiskey, Irish crème or caramel liquor.

A hot coco bar is an absolute must if you are having a winter event! Photo by J.Michelle Photography.

These add-in options were just the beginning! Crushed peppermint, cholocate chips and butterscotch flavored-gingerbread shaped gummies were additional festive holiday treats!

It wouldn’t be a Fairy Godmother event if there weren’t a few surprises… The first of the night was the TapSnap photobooth with the ability to put the Pandol’s guests inside a snow globe! Now how cool is that?!

Another surprise, even for the Pandols, was that the Bakersfield Blend Chorus, a chapter of the Sweet Adelines. The chorus shared the traditional holidays tunes that we all know and love.

Live music was provided by The Mistletones.

Our dear friend Therese and her band of jingly geniuses made sure that every melody and tune were just right for the guests, and filled the Pandol home with holiday cheer!

So many little details go into making an event a true success.

Stirrer rods, napkins and of course holiday packages disguised as tables were necessities for this event.

Delicious treats by GhilaDolci Bakery and festively decorated cookies by The Cookie Monger were a hit of the party! “Elf on the Shelf” cookies went right along with the theme of sneaky elves throughout the Pandol home.

Paper products created by Matinae Design Studio, and oh how we loved them!

Our Favorite Things – Magical Monday

“Rain drops on roses and whiskers on kittens…”

These are a few of our favorite things!

To kick off December, the Hair boys hosted their annual combo birthday bash, this year’s theme was coined after, you guessed it, a few of their favorite things!

Fairy Godmother has had the upmost pleasure of being the chosen event planners for the Hair family for over 7 years now!

Watching David and Serena’s three boys grow up has been such an indescribable joy, but even more so to watch them grow as their interests grow and shift.

Favorite Things Hair Family

David, Corbin and Parker let their fairies in on some of their favorite things and the magic began!

Combining Super Mario, Star Wars and tennis may seem like a challenge, but leave it to the Fairy Godmothers to create a seamlessly magical event. Incorporating the boy’s interests into centerpieces was just the start of the fun, and what better way to wrap it all together than in brown paper packages tied up with string??

Balloon designs by Paradise Balloon Designs scattered around the party area were the perfect added touch on this outdoor event. We are fortunate enough to have such talented “friendors,” like LoraLee, who are able to make our dreams and ideas come to life!

Bounce houses, tennis lessons with a Stockdale Country Club tennis professional and vintage video games were just a few of the scheduled events for the sunny December afternoon.

Guests of all calibers were able to join in the tennis fun as the Stockdale Country Club’s tennis pro gave lessons and taught the guests all the cool moves and fun techniques! A fun twist on getting party goers to be active and learn something new!

What is a birthday part without cake?! Magnificently delicious cakes and goodies made by Gimme Some Sugar illustrated each of the boy’s interests perfectly! Tennis, Super Mario and Chewbacca made fabulously tasty artwork.

It is always the greatest pleasure to be your Fairy Godmother, Serena! Your family is picture perfect and we are so happy to be your chosen event planner year after year. We love that you trust Fairy Godmother to let our creativity run free to create your magical event!

Why Fairy Godmother? – Fairy Godmother Friday

Have you ever found yourself wondering what a wedding planner does beyond the actual wedding planning?

No two planners are the same, and we want to share what makes us special!

Fairy Godmother Denise

Every bride should feel like an absolute princess on her wedding day, and let’s not forget the groom. Hence why every bride should have their very own Fairy Godmother!

One of the best parts of having a Fairy Godmother by your side, from start to finish, is that we have done this a time or two before…

We understand that things happen, and we have found ways to prevent them and to fix them!

Rain or shine, Fairy Godmothers never rest! Photo by Boone & Stacie Weddings

Another quality of excellence that the Fairies of Fairy Godmother pride themselves on is their total dedication to the client.

Fairy Godmother Colleen

On wedding days we are tending to not only the bride from the moment she gets her hair and makeup done, but to the vendors as they arrive and the delightful guests as they arrive needing direction.

Our attention to our clients is not our only pride and joy, but also for our dedication to the industry. All of us at Fairy Godmother are constantly learning and educating ourselves, allowing for us to not only be experienced professionals, but to be trusted and expert professionals!

While we believe that every couple deserves their very own Fairy Godmother, we think there is power in numbers! Every event, wedding or corporate party, has at least two Fairy Godmothers in attendance to aid for whenever and wherever the need arises.

Fairy Godmother Cassandra

Attention to detail, expertise and peace of mind are all common client testimonials as to why they chose Fairy Godmother.

Fairy Godfather TJ

We are happy to say, and credit, the substantial growth of Fairy Godmother is majorly due to word of mouth referrals from our past clients and their families.

We cannot thank our friends, families, friendors, and clients for the success that Fairy Godmother has experienced in the last 7 years. We are so grateful for you!

Venue Coordinator vs. Wedding Planner – Magical Monday

Happy, happy “Magical Monday!”

It’s been quite a long while since we have shared about just what exactly we do here at Fairy Godmother, so let us tell you what differentiates a wedding planner from a venue coordinator.

Fairy Godmother Baby Shower

A “Venue Coordinator”, also known as a “site coordinator,” is someone assigned to your event from your venue. While this person has you in their interests, their loyalty lies with their venue. The Venue Coordinator takes care of things like the tables, chairs, the grounds, etc. not necessarily you or your guests. Venue Coordinators do not attend your wedding if it is offsite, they do not assist with pushy guests or uncooperative bridesmaids, and they do not help design and plan your wedding day.

Fairy Godmother Colleen

A “Wedding Planner” Your Wedding Planner is with you on your day, and those leading up to, and even soon after! A Wedding Planner is there to help you not only plan your wedding, but also to design the overall style of your day. Lighting, linens and florals are aspects that a planner ensures reflect your desired theme is portrayed correctly. Wedding Planners not only keep a balanced register of costs, but they will also attend meetings with D.J.’s, caterers, venues, etc. to assist in the planning process, in it’s entirety.

The wedding industry has taken the fast track when it comes to implementing new programs, new techniques and new ways to continue advancement. In addition to creating new ways for things to run smoother and more efficiently, the industry has modified job titles and descriptions so there is no grey area to what should be expected.

Fairy Godfather TJ piñata at Memphis' birthday

“Wedding Day Management,” previously known as “Day Of Coordinator,” is sometimes all you need! A “Day Of” coordinator is running the event just as you planned it, while doing it seamlessly! Your wedding day manager is more than their title, they are your mediator, orchestrator, consultant, organizer and friend all in one! Managers also create detailed timelines for your wedding day, along with pre-wedding day appointments to compose a clear and mutual understanding of how you want your wedding day to be.

The main goal is to provide clients with the difference of these titles, as they are most often incredibly misconstrued.

Here at Fairy Godmother, our goal is to provide the most magical day possible for our clients through the execution of collaboration with clients, their families, and vendors. Together, we share the common goal of providing impeccable memories through a perfectly seamless event.

At Fairy Godmother, “we bring a fairytale feeling to everything we do.”

JEH Ranch Outdoor Bakersfield Wedding – Magical Monday

The Fairy Godmother team has been busy spreading fairy magic, and on October 8th the team headed for the hills!

Just on the edge of Bakersfield, JEH Ranch is nestled in the North East side of town right along the Kern River. Amongst the luscious grounds, complete with a saloon, Natalie and Jon exchanged vows surrounded by family and friends.

Upon arrival, guests were given fan programs to help beat the end-of-summer Bakersfield heat.

This genius invention also helped guests stay in the “loop” of how the evening would transpire, and let guests know “who’s who” in the wedding party.

Love is a lot of things, and we are true believers that a photograph is worth 1,000 words!

When Jon and Natalie did their first look, Jon was completely floored with emotion as he saw Natalie for the first time.

We got to witness all the “feels” that filled JEH Ranch in this moment, and we would be fibbing if we said it didn’t bring a tear to our eye! If you have ever had the opportunity to witness true love, you know exactly what we are saying when we say that the love that Natalie and Jon share is truly “picture perfect!”

We love tender moments, Jon was the perfect example of how every groom should be at the first sight of his beautiful bride.

There are no words to describe the love that was illustrated by those sharing in the magical moment as Natalie and Jon said “I do,” it is truly indescribable.

We could not have dreamed of a better day, the sun was shining, the river flowed smoothly, and there was a light breeze. There was no better scene for a magical wedding day!

A bride and her girls are everything! It’s even more when the groom gets in on it, too!

This bridal party was an absolute joy to work with, from beginning to end they all expressed their love for the other… Our bridesmaids loved how happy Jon made Natalie, and our groomsmen had never seen Jon happier.

These florals were absolutely flawless! The perfect flower combination to satisfy the color palette, just enough greenery, and topped off with flowing ribbons. Talk about aesthetically pleasing!

After establishing Fairy Godmother, Colleen sought to give back to the community that helped her build her business, cue the birth of the Fairy Godmother Foundation.

The Fairy Godmother Foundation, and all involved vendors, donate one wedding per year to a deserving couple who are facing terminal illness, or a life altering event, that has otherwise put their wedding on hold. All at little to no cost to the couple.

This Fairy Godmother has been helping mentor and guide other growing local Bakersfield businesses as another way to give back to the community. This Fairy has wings that never tire, and that is just one of the many admirable attributes that Colleen shares with the world!
