Bakersfield Wedding Pro Spotlight: Moore Decor Party Rentals

Can you share the story behind Moore Decor Party Rentals? What inspired you to start a party rental business in Bakersfield?

It all began shortly after COVID shut everything down. I’m a proud mom of two beautiful daughters, Megan and Haley. Over the years, as they were growing up, I loved throwing them amazing parties. You couldn’t rent décor at the time, so I bought everything myself and held onto it all. My family would often borrow pieces for their events. After COVID, I realized it was time to declutter. I asked my girls to help me let go of some things, but instead, they encouraged me to turn my collection into a business! Megan even set up our Instagram; to my surprise, people immediately started reaching out. It was such a strange but exciting concept to me. I work full-time, so the original plan was for Megan and Haley to help run the business. But just a few months later, both of them became pregnant! They took over managing all our social media, and to this day, they still handle it. Now, I’m blessed with five beautiful grandchildren—ages 13, 10, 6, 3, and 2— and I officially launched Moore Decor Party Rentals on April 18, 2021.

What types of events do you specialize in?

While I can help with any event, I’d say I specialize in vintage décor. I’ve collected many vintage pieces over the years, and I love them. My stepmom used to send me so many beautiful vintage items, and I have fond memories of her. It’s really special to see her treasures being used to create beautiful events.

Are there any unique or specialty items that set Moore Decor apart from other rental companies?

Definitely! We carry many one-of-a-kind pieces that you won’t find anywhere else. My husband even builds some of our most unique and amazing custom pieces. Our collection is full of character and charm.

Are there any trends or styles you’ve seen clients gravitate toward recently? Any new or trending pieces you’ve added to your collection?

Lately, clients are loving creative backdrops and statement pieces. We recently added an adorable Flower Market backdrop and an incredible Book Wall that people can’t get enough of.
We’re also seeing a strong trend toward organic and natural vibes—lots of greenery, soft colors, and earthy elements. Our Farmer’s Market theme has become especially popular, giving events a charming, down-to-earth feel that guests love. I’m always on the lookout for unique vintage treasures and new specialty pieces to keep our collection fresh and inspiring.

Where do you find inspiration for your rental collection and styling?

A lot of my inspiration comes from other vendors—they spark new ideas and push me to try new things. When a client shares their vision, I love bringing it to life. I can often picture the final look in my head before we even get started.

What advice would you give clients when planning their event and selecting rentals?

I always encourage clients to come by and walk through our inventory in person. Seeing the pieces up close can be so inspiring, and it often sparks new ideas. I also tell them: don’t be afraid to try something different. Be original— set the trend!

What’s next for Moore Decor Party Rentals? Any exciting plans or new offerings on the horizon?

I’m super excited about launching our “one-stop shop” experience! We’ve added some amazing in-house vendors, including:
 Our content creator: Megan (my daughter)
 Our balloon vendor: Gigi’s Glo Boss
 Our in-house florist: Blooms and Bliss by Jen Riley
This means clients can come to us for rentals, balloons, florals, and content creation—all in one place! We’re also expanding our inventory with more modern pieces to give clients even more options.
I’ve been partnering with Rocio Juarez, Event Planner and Christmas tree decorator, since last year as a photoshoot set designer. I also have been working with a local influencer Krista Horton and her business, Staykation, along with one of her collaborators, Pink Lily. It’s a lot of work, but also a lot of fun! It’s different from anything I’ve done before, and I’ve discovered that it’s something I truly enjoy—and it comes naturally to me.

What has your experience been like working with Fairy Godmother?

Oh my gosh—where do I even start?! I love working with you, Kimberly, and the entire Fairy Godmother team. I’m always in awe of how organized you are. I adore the Design Deck (DD), and I admire how professional and polished your whole team is. The way you refer other vendors, the way you plan your events—it’s all done with such grace and care. I’ve learned so much just by watching you in action. You truly are the OGs of the event industry, and you’ve created such a welcoming community. You inspire all of us to bring our A-game to every single event, and I especially love how open and supportive you and Kimberly are. Being able to bounce ideas off Kimberly and know I have a community I can trust—it means the world to me.
