When to Mail Out Save the Dates – Weddings 101
If you recently got engaged during the holidays, you’re probably beginning to think of a wedding date, budget, and venue. One of the first steps after you’ve chosen the date and the location for your special day, is to send out save the dates! Save the dates are exciting because they give your guests a glimpse of what’s to come. We receive numerous questions about save the date cards so we’re glad to help answer these F.A.Q.!
What’s a Save The Date?
Save the dates are solely meant to have your guests put your wedding date on their calendars. They share your upcoming big day to give them a heads up and remind your guests to think about attire, request time off of work, and start making travel plans if needed. If you’re having a destination wedding where most of your guests will be coming from out of town, be sure to give them enough time to plan accordingly. Sending a save the date is an expected courtesy since most of your guests will have to make hotel and travel arrangements.
What do I include on My Save the Dates?
The good news is they’re simple. Not much information is needed. All you need to include in the card is your names, the date, and the location. If you haven’t chosen a venue yet, don’t stress. You can include this on your invitations when you send those out. City and State are all that’s required for this step.
When should I send out my Save the Dates?
Sex to eight months before the wedding is standard. If you’re having a destination wedding, eight to twelve months is needed.
