As the saying goes, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” Pictures from weddings are the mementos of those blessed and happy times. They are the only things that remain of that special day. They are also what others will see posted online or in your home. Hence, because a picture is worth a thousand words, and it is the only remaining aspect of the wedding (aside from the happily married couple), it is critically important to choose your photographer wisely.
Inspect the pictures of the photographer you pick. You want to see good photos of both studio settings and natural settings. Some people have a flare for studio portraits and others have a knack for natural settings. You want someone with both talents because that person is going to be taking both kinds of pictures for you. Pictures of the wedding party, very grandiose and staged are going to be taken first. Then the natural pictures of the wedding reception of guests and bride and groom very different than studio photos.
A good option is to try the photographer out. Schedule a photo shoot for yourself and maybe a couple friends in a studio setting and see how they turn out. Having your engagement photos taken by the photographer is an excellent way of getting a feel for their work and if you click with them.
This is not to say that you need to look for a very expensive photographer, but one who produces quality work. Money doesn’t necessarily always mean quality. But because you want to have the best pictures of your wedding so you can look back at it with joy, choose a photographer that is best capable of helping you do that. Choose someone who is going to capture that moment! Someone who cares about what they do! Someone who will represent you and the guests from the wedding in the best possible way for future reminiscences. Someone who you enjoy being around, after all they will spend the entire day with you on one of the most important days of your life.
