Responsibility of the Maid of Honor
Being chosen as the Maid of Honor is just that, an honor. However, the job doesn’t end at giving a toast or holding the bride’s dress in the bathroom. The Maid of honor is usually the best friend or sister of the bride and has a vast amount of responsibilities from planning the bachelorette party to just being there for moral support.
- Lead the troops. It’s the maid of honor’s job to direct the other maids through their duties.
- Help with the dress shopping process.
- Give honest opinions about colors, cake designs, dresses, flowers, etc.
- Inform guests of where the bride and groom are registered.
- Arrange for storage of the wedding dress during the honeymoon.
- Always lend an ear. Be the one the bride can go to for questions and listen to her needs.
- Host bridal shower.
- Be in charge of making sure the bridal party arrives to rehearsal and other gatherings.
- Plan the bachelorette party.
- Keep a record of all the gifts received at various parties and showers.
- Hold the groom’s ring during the ceremony. Safest place to put it? On your thumb!
- Along with the best man, sign the marriage license as a witness.
- Hold the bride’s bouquet during the ceremony.
- Make sure the bride eats! A hungry bride means a grumpy bride.
- Make a toast.
- Keep the bride laughing. Laughter can be the cure for a stressed-out bride.
