For this month’s featured vendor, we’re going to be chatting with our go-to stationer – Jenae at Matinae Design Studio. Jenae handles all of our paper needs here at Fairy Godmother. From the save the dates, invitations, signage, seating charts, wax seals, to so much more! Jenae is a true expert at what she does, and we could go on all day about her and the outstanding work she creates, but we’ll let her tell you, her story!
When did you start your business?
I started my business on June 7, 2008.
What’s the meaning behind your business name Matinae?
My name is Jenae and my husband’s name is Matt. Matt + Jenae!
What is a new trend you see in your business?
Vellum and acrylic! Basically, anything that has a slight transparency to it which I love incorporating into invitation suites and day-of stationery. Hybrid items that serve two purposes in one also seem to be a trend that I don’t see going anywhere anytime soon. For example, menus that also serve as place cards.
What do you love most about your business?
I love getting to meet and connect with my clients, realizing each of their different styles, personalities, and visions which are reflected through the designs I get to create for them.
What do you want to be known for?
For easing the stress clients can feel when planning an event. I truly try to be with them every step of the way, helping to answer any questions, guiding them in terms of etiquette, and helping to lessen the burden by having pricing that includes much more than they’ll find elsewhere (including free mailing services).
What advice would you give to future clients?
Book stationery early! The design process should be a fun and easy process that clients get to enjoy. Booking early allows for more creative freedom and helps to ensure clients love the process without feeling like they are being rushed.

I’ve had the joy of working with the Fairy Godmother team for close to thirteen years now. I’ve designed alongside them for a multitude of events ranging from weddings to cooperate events and everything in between. The entire team never ceases to plan and execute amazing ideas that fit the needs of their clients and bring any event to life!
