Bobbi is a phenomenal cook and baker who owns a highly established catering company known as Catering Affairs. Before starting her company, Bobbi was a housewife with a substantial amount of experience in the kitchen. She never dreamt that she would one day own her own catering company.
She grew up on a ranch located in California. Her family would often host events at their family home. At these special gatherings, the older women of the families would cook, and Bobbi was always in the kitchen helping as well. These experiences allowed her to create new culinary techniques and fall in love with the complexity and the simplicity of food. Bobbi believes food should be a memorable experience at not only special gatherings but also, in everyday life.
The idea of Catering Affairs came after Bobbi’s husband – who worked in the oil fields for fifteen years was laid off in 2015. Both Bobbi and her husband were jobless. One day, when they were driving in their car, Bobbi had the idea to start a barbecue business. She and her husband joked about her idea. Although they joked about starting a business, like Bobbi said, “The opportunities fell into place like puzzle pieces,” and Bobbi began her journey with Catering Affairs. When Bobbi and her husband started the business, they had different visions of where the business would end up. Her husband wanted a barbecue restaurant, while she pictured a fancy, high-class restaurant where brides can go to begin their menu taste test.
Bobbi took over Catering Affairs about five years ago. Before she became the owner, Brenda was the owner for twenty years. Although twenty-five years seems like a long time, Catering Affairs has a past of about forty years. Before Brenda was owner, the business was owned by Marilynn Curtis and was named Marilynn Curtis Catering. The rich history of the business makes Catering Affairs unique and well-rounded. When Bobbi took over Catering Affairs the business was dwindling, so, she was virtually starting from the ground up. This was a challenge for Bobbi, but Brenda, the previous owner of Catering Affairs, helped guide Bobbi through the process of owning the catering company. Brenda also passed down an extremely supportive and helpful staff to Bobbi. All of the staff come from different backgrounds and have depths of experience and history in the kitchen. The staff is highly trained in the ways of the culinary arts.
When setting up weddings or other events, Catering Affairs brings two trailers. One trailer is a mobile kitchen, so they can create fresh, delicious food for each guest. The other trailer is for drinks so the wedding or event guests can be refreshed at all times. As soon as Catering Affairs is on-site for the wedding or event, they begin their setup to be properly prepared for when guests arrive. Catering Affairs is thorough and prepared for any crisis that may occur during a wedding or event.
Catering Affairs is well immersed in adaptability. They want their clients to have happy memories from their wedding. They are willing to work around any parameter a couple has, which includes the venue, food restrictions, money, number of guests, and many other specifications. The staff at Catering Affairs’ priority is to keep their clients happy.
When going through the process of creating a menu, Bobbi recommends that brides come with an open mind, try new things and see what their caterer has to offer. Working with Catering Affairs starts with a simple call. During the call, Bobbi receives a feel for the couple’s big day and what they’re expecting for food. Then, the couple meets up at Angry Barnyard Barbecue – Bobbi’s husband’s barbecue restaurant and set up a few menus. Lastly, the couple will come back for a food tasting and make any changes before the menu is finalized.
