How I Got Started
Colleen, a dear friend and long-time colleague, gave me a call one day and asked what I was doing on May 21, 2010. She told me that she had just booked me for a wedding! Colleen and I go way back; we worked together for years at the Bank of Stockdale, and later at Rabobank, where we were in charge of the bank’s events. We even created a special Christmas event for the families at the bank. Colleen and I clicked immediately because we grew up with very similar parents, both having moms who knew how to throw a fantastic party. Our shared experiences and love for event planning made us a perfect team.
My Style
Though I have retired from planning weddings, I now have the joy of overseeing our new team members. My style is straightforward and no-nonsense. I’ve developed a keen sense for recognizing who will thrive in this business and who might struggle. It’s a unique intuition that has served me well over the years.
Why I Love What I Do
It’s been a true pleasure to watch and be a part of Fairy Godmother’s growth over the years. I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished. From starting with just the two of us, we have grown to a team of over 12 members. In our first year of business, we planned 22 events, and now we plan over 60 events a year, including a significant number of corporate events. Seeing how far we’ve come fills me with pride and joy.
When I Am Not Planning Events
When I’m not involved in event planning, I love spending time with my two furry companions, Maggie and Scruffy. I enjoy relaxing with a nice cup of coffee and a good movie. Family time is very important to me, and I’m also an excellent cook. My home is filled with numerous plants, and I’ve earned a reputation for being able to revive dying house plants and bring them back to life.
