How did you get started as a DJ, and what inspired your passion for music?
I started about 15 years ago. I have always loved music, even back in high school in the late ’90s, when creating your own music and making mixed CDs was popular. As I got older, a coworker and I started talking about DJing, and I thought it was cool. He introduced me to the industry, and I was hooked. Around that time, computer-based music became a thing, which was exciting for me because I am the Director of IT for the City of Wasco. Combining my love for music and technology felt like a natural fit.
Fifteen years ago, I bought a small turntable and a mixer and started practicing at home. I met other DJs in Los Angeles, where I am from, and worked in a few clubs to learn the ropes. Now I live in Bakersfield, and my business has expanded—I currently have two DJs working with me. I love mentoring them and sharing what I have learned. People often ask me for the secret to success, and I tell them it is simple: practice, practice, love, and a deep knowledge of music.
What types of events do you specialize in, and what do you enjoy most about being a DJ?
I specialize in weddings and quinceañeras, which are like mini weddings. I love weddings because everyone is there to have a great time and be entertained. It is rewarding to play a variety of music, do the introductions, and hype up the crowd.

Do you provide other services like lighting or MCing?
Yes, we have grown significantly in recent years and now offer a variety of services, including lighting décor, monograms, uplighting, slideshows, video, LED walls, photo booths, and special effects like cold sparkles, dancing on the clouds, and haze bubbles. We are always looking to incorporate new technology. We also offer LED robot performers and Big Head characters.
Do you have any rituals or routines before you start DJing at an event?
On the way to the event, I listen to the music my client has requested. Once I arrive, I review the timeline thoroughly. Before the event begins, I say a small prayer for my clients, their guests, and the vendors. I still get butterflies and a rush of excitement before every event because I want everything to be perfect for my clients.
What is your favorite part about collaborating with couples and planners for weddings?
I love talking to clients about music—what they enjoy, what their families will enjoy, and the songs they grew up listening to. Music creates lasting memories, and I feel privileged to help make their event unforgettable.

Instagram is huge for us. We update it regularly with posts from our events, and we have shared over 300 posts. We also post on TikTok, where clients can see my DJ skills in action.

Always look for a professional. Entertainment is one of the most important aspects of your wedding—your guests will always remember how much fun they had.
