Congratulations! You’re Engaged, Now What…? – Magical Monday

You made it!

All the planning has now come full circle, one of the best days ever is upon you!

As you gear up to walk down the aisle today, it is time that we go over just a few very last minute details to ensure that your day goes perfectly!

Have someone in charge of making sure that you and your entire wedding party have eaten!

Many times, while everyone is getting ready, there will be some sort of platter or tray that everyone can pick off of. By making sure that everyone has eaten you will help prevent any wedding day jitters that may arise.

When getting your hair and makeup done, it is been found that it is best to wear a button up shirt or a special wedding day robe! This way you don’t mess up your hair or makeup by pulling anything over.

As far as details are concerned, it is best to send someone you trust to go check on the reception site! It is best that this gets done early on, or as early as possible, just in the event that there are any changes to be made.

While everyone is getting ready, and even after, see if your photographer will take some candid photos of you and your family! These are the moments that you will cherish as they aren’t posed and show the special moments of your big day!

One of the most memorable moments before you walk down the aisle, the big dress reveal! Your closest guys and gals will love to see you in this special moment before you say “I do!”

All About Me – Fairy Godfather TJ – Fairy Godmother Friday

As we wrap up the Fairy Godmother “All About Me” series, we just want to say that we are so thrilled to have the best friends, family, and clients!

In sharing a little about ourselves, we want to really make solid relationships with everyone aka we aspire to be everyone’s best friend!

This week is all about Fairy Godmother’s very own Godfather, TJ!

We asked TJ if there was anything that many people didn’t know about him, and there is!

TJ didn’t have a name for three days when he was born, after his parents decided on his name, names like “Beau Ty” were on the drawing board.        TJ says it would’ve been interesting, but he is happy with TJ and will continue just wearing bowties!

If TJ could live anywhere he wanted, he said he would still be here in Bakersfield! Family is important to him and he doesn’t think he could be too far away, especially from his nieces or nephew.

Does TJ like to dance? TJ asked if anyone had seen him dance, but all humor aside, TJ used to dance competitively up until his freshman year of high school.

The first thing he thinks of in the morning is how much longer he can snooze before he actually has to get up! He was always told “early to bed, early to rise,” but he finds himself most productive in the evening!

Anyone who knows TJ would know that if he could meet anyone, past or present, it would be JFK! Early life, Presidency, Camelot and Legacy all get his history-loving feels going!

White Horse Inn Fairy Godmother Longoria Wedding

TJ doesn’t sing in the shower, but he uses it as his think tank! He says that his best ideas come usually while shampooing his hair. He spares anyone from hearing his beautiful singing voice, regardless of his time in choir.

Overall, TJ thinks his best characteristic is his strong work ethic. The job always gets done!

We asked TJ what his best childhood memory was, and he couldn’t pick just one! He loved spending weekends traveling with his grandparents or spending time on his grandpa’s vineyard with his cousin.

One of TJ’s favorite and best known, features is his smile!  Many have told him that he has been smiling since he was born, but the one memory that sticks out most to him is his first day of freshman year his Spanish teacher asked if he was okay because nobody could be that happy (don’t worry, he went on to succeed in the class!).

We hope that you have enjoyed learning about the Fairy Godmother team, we know that we even learned a bit about each other!

Congratulations! You’re Engaged, Now What…? – Magical Monday

We are almost there!

If you have been keeping up with our “Congratulations! You’re Engaged, Now What…?” wedding planning series, you will know that we are now just a week out from walking down the aisle!

We have covered everything that you will need on your wedding day. Wedding dress, tuxedos, paper products, vendors… You are all set!

Now that we are in the last week of engagement, there are just a few little housekeeping items that we will go over to ensure that your day is just as you have always dreamed it to be.

Being in your last week, hopefully, you have received all of your RSVP responses so that you can adjust your seating chart accordingly.  This alleviates any awkward missing spots at tables, and definitely helps with wasted place settings as you should also give your caterer your updated guest count.  Take into consideration any children if your caterer will be serving a different meal for our younger guests.

Wedding day surprises can be fun, however, wardrobe malfunctions do not fall into this category! With your magical day just a week away, you want to be sure that you try on everything. We mean everything.  Jewelry, shoes, hairpiece, the whole nine yards just in case there is any sort of issue, you have some time to get it taken care of.

Fairy Godmother Colleen

One week away means that your Fairy Godmother should have any and all items that they will need on your wedding day.  This goes for paper products, décor, and any other miscellaneous items that you won’t want to worry about on one of the most important days of your life!

Post wedding day means honeymoon!  Be sure to gather all of your required paperwork and necessary travel items so that you are ready to go as soon as you need to be! This goes for confirming reservations, having your house sitter lined up, printing any and all itineraries, and of course, making sure that you are all packed and ready to go!

All About Me – Fairy Godmother Sara – Fairy Godmother Friday

Happy “Fairy Godmother Friday!”

This week is all about our latest Fairy, Fairy Godmother Sara!

As we welcome Sara to the Fairy Godmother squad, we want to share a few things about Sara that make her extra special!

Fairy Godmother Sara

We asked Sara if there was anything that people may not know about her, and turns out that she was on the game show “Street Smarts.” Sara said that it was fun, but as it turned out, she didn’t win the show.

We shocked Sara when we asked if she liked to dance, she didn’t know that there were people in this world who didn’t like to dance!

Fairy Godmother Assistants Sara and Shannon

If Sara could have lunch with any person past or present, she would choose Aaron Rodgers, the quarterback for the Greenbay Packers.

When asked if she sees the glass half empty or half full, Sara said that it depends on how much caffeine she has had. I think that is something that we could all agree on!

Tori & Arnold Calamigos Ranch Fairy Godmother Wedding

Sara believes that her strongest characteristics are being stubborn and determined with her special talent being annoying her husband, but we don’t think that he minds!

The furthest place that Sara has been is Italy, which is exactly where she would live if she could live anywhere in the world!

Fairy Godmother Sara

If we tried getting inside Sara’s head, we would see a lot of her decorating ideas and love for her dogs… And maybe a little about her amazing husband, Logan!

Fairy Godmother Sara

If Sara were ever caught being bored, we would witness to her creative mind re-decorating her house or an epic dance party… Depending on her mood, of course.

Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

Sara doesn’t really mind which came first, but agrees that they both taste delicious!

Fairy Godmother Assistants Sara and Shannon

Sara’s best, and most cherished, childhood memories are with her dad horseback riding and dancing on his feet.

Sara’s favorite life motto is “Faith, Love & Pixie Dust” with the most important thing being to spend time with people you love.

Wedding at the White Horse Inn – Magical Monday

Wow! The Fairies are back at it, the Fall wedding season has officially kicked off, and this past week the Fairy Godmother crew loaded up and set out for a “Fairy Field Trip!”

This field trip was sending the Fairy Godmother squad to the White Horse Inn for Andrea and Ian’s magical day!

White Horse Inn

Fairy Godmother Cassandra had the details in check and set off with her fairy magic in tow.

One of the best parts of being a Fairy Godmother bride, in our opinion, is that you get to be pampered while all your set up is done for you.

This means that you as the bride, or groom, get to enjoy everything on the day of your wedding without worrying about who is setting up your dream wedding.

For Andrea and Ian, this was no different!

Between the staff at the White Horse Inn and the Fairy Godmother squad, the reception and ceremony sites were set and ready to go!

Who doesn’t love to “hoop and holler” after our Fairy Godmother couple say “I do?!”

Guests were encouraged to grab a noisemaker of a sort to share their excitement of the celebration.

Of course, before anyone gets the opportunity to walk down the aisle, your very own Fairy Godmother has to give you her approval and for our gorgeous bride, Andrea, to have one final fluffing of her wedding dress!

A sweetheart table wouldn’t be complete without florals and a few personalized touches!

Incorporating the wedding party’s color palette into the floral arrangements and decor was such a fun planning and design task for Fairy Godmother Cassandra.

The night’s reception was an ethereal affair! Natural leaves and woods were incorporated with candlelight to create the ambiance that was as warm and welcoming as our couple!

All About Me – Fairy Godmother Janet – Fairy Godmother Friday

What better way to celebrate “Fairy Godmother Friday” than by sharing about our amazing Fairy Godmother team?!

This week we are highlighting the “Jackie O.” of Fairy Godmother, the one and only Fairy Godmother Janet!

Fairy Godmother Janet by Makenzie Photography

Janet has been in the wedding industry for a few years, prior to putting on her fairy wings Janet worked in the catering industry right alongside us at countless events. She has been a true asset to the team and we are excited to watch her use her fairy magic to turn dreams into reality!

Janet fuels her fairy magic through the love for, and from, her husband, children, grandchildren, and even her fur baby!

If you are just joining us, we are sharing fun and random facts about each of the Fairies of the Fairy Godmother team.

Fairy Godmother Squad Baskin Robbins

We asked Janet what was something that most people don’t know about her, and we found out that we have a musical Fairy on our hands! Janet not only played the violin in elementary school and junior high, but she went on to be a part of the Bakersfield Honor Choir (complete with solo) and even sang with the Sweet Adelines in junior high! How cool!

Something that we didn’t learn, but we got our positive affirmation about is that Janet is a positive person who wakes up thankful for another day and always sees the glass half full rather than half empty.

When asked what came first, the chicken or the egg, Janet said “the egg!”

Her dreams of retirement include her husband, their black lab, and the Central Coast.

Janet took the words right out of our mouth when she shared about her favorite characteristics; detail oriented, organized, compassionate, faithful, prim and proper! Janet says that her strongest of these would be compassion, which we can all agree on. We call Janet the “Jackie O.” of Fairy Godmother because of these characteristics, she is such a lady and we couldn’t love her more!

Growing up, Janet dreamed of being a lawyer.  She worked at the mall in high school, and then a receptionist in a law firm where she became a paralegal after completing the coursework.  She went from there into the catering field and magically ended up as a wedding planner with Fairy Godmother!

Congratulations! You’re Engaged, Now What…? – Magical Monday

Congratulations! You’re Engaged, Now What…?

As we continue on in our series, we are steadily approaching your magical day and we are now just three months away!

One of the most important options of your evening will be dinner if you are choosing to have a meal at your event.

You are on the downhill slide of your planning process, now it is time to go back and make sure that you finalize all of your options with your vendors… This includes finalizing your menu with your caterer. You want to make sure that in the year or so of planning that all of your desired options are still available, and still want you would like!

There are many aspects of your wedding day that everyone will remember, one of these is the food!

Some key things to remember when putting together, or finalizing, your wedding day menu would that you are not just the new couple, but that you are the host of the event to all of your guests. As hosts, you want to be sure that your wedding day menu appeals to everyone in attendance, as best as possible.

Fairy Godmother Caterers

Another major aspect will be your timeline. It’s vital to keep in mind how you would like your day to flow, if you don’t want the bulk of your evening to be spent on dinner, consider your options and maybe revamp your menu a bit! Your day is completely customizable, make sure it is just as you want it.

While all of these aforementioned aspects are crucial to your big day, there is one that is even more important to consider… Your budget! If you recall, when we first began this series we advised you to create a dream day budget that wouldn’t break the bank and gave you the ability to accurately price out all of your vendors. This will play a part in your menu, as well as your guest count!

Of course, never forget that this is your magical day, bon appetite!

All About Me – Fairy Godmother Marissa – Fairy Godmother Friday

Happy “Fairy Godmother Friday!”

This week we are sharing all about Fairy Godmother Marissa!

Marissa wanted to make sure that we set one thing straight, she is a country girl at heart and country music is her absolute favorite!

We asked Marissa what she thinks of first thing in the morning, and she kept it real, her answer was too perfect… “What am I going to wear today and do I feel like doing my hair?”

Fairy Godmother Marissa

If she could have lunch with anyone in the world, past or present, she has two candidates… Chip and Joanna Gaines from “Fixer Upper!”

The store that Marissa would choose to max out her credit card, you ask? Easy peasy, Nordstroms!

Marissa thinks most about where she is in life, how she’s achieving her goals, and constantly reminding herself that everything is a process! …She was sure not to forget that she finds herself thinking about puppies quite often.

Dessert before dinner? Marissa says “yes!”

She says that she is a great cook, with a recipe, but she takes the most pride in her baking!

We wanted to know what Marissa dreamed of growing up to be, turns out she wanted to be a fashion designer and a NASCAR driver! She said she would have been the best dressed NASCAR driver!

Marissa finds comfort in knowing that she is a great listener and has a relatable personality.

While Marissa wishes that her favorite time of day was nap time, but it technically doesn’t exist, so her favorite time of day is bedtime!

There’s no better selfie than a Fairy Godmother selfie!

Marissa’s best childhood memory was her involvement in sports! She says that sports are an extremely important part of growing up… It teaches kids to be tough, hard work, and what it takes to work as a team.

Strange fact about Marissa? We have one! Her favorite smell comes from her softball days when they would water down the field, but her favorite scent is wet dirt!

All who know Marissa, know what makes her great… She says that her “spark” feature that has led her to success is being passionate!

Congratulations! You’re Engaged, Now What…? – Magical Monday

It’s another beautiful “Magical Monday” here in Fairy Land, and we are thrilled to continue sharing our wedding planning series, “Congratulations! You’re Engaged, Now What…?” with you!

This week, we are just four months from your magical day, and there are just a few things left for you to do before you get to say “I do!”

Breaking the norm on wedding traditions can be challenging for some, but we want to help you ensure that your day is as original as you are!

One thing to always remember during your planning process is that you only have to do what you want, and should only have your day as you have always dreamed!

Another trend that is becoming more and more popular is allowing guests to drop a note or piece of advice into a box for the lucky couple to open at a later date, a fun way to personalize your day and maintaining that personal connection even after the wedding night has ended.

What about a wedding day program? That’s right, a detailed itinerary of each event to occur- which can be complete with names of those included in such. This also helps those trying to “wrangle” the persons involved for photos, etc. as your day transpires!

Personalized napkins? Dinner menus? Treat bags? The answer is always “YES!”

It’s “Fairy Godmother Friday” and this means we get to continue sharing about our Fairy Family…

This week, we are sharing all about our very own Fairy Godmother Cassandra!

As you may recall, Cassandra has recently started her own magical wedding planning journey as her boyfriend recently was upgraded to the title “fiance!”

First things first- Just know that there is not a single soul in this world who loves confetti, glitter, or anything that sparkles more than Cassandra!

For anyone who knows Cassandra, we all know that she LOVES to dance!

She shared with us that when she was growing up, Cassandra and her mom used to learn line dances in their living room. She added that she has also been known to break into dance in the rain with her bestfriend!

Cassandra wouldn’t exactly want to move away, but she would consider having a home base with 3-4 locations elsewhere, places where she could work of course!

If Cassandra could meet anyone, past or present, she would want to meet Lucille Ball or Walt Disney (or both!)!

When asked what Cassandra thinks about most, she answered “creating!”

She said that she finds herself wondering what she could create next, how she could make something herself, or just how to put a unique spin on something already made! Sign of a true creative, she said that anything can trigger this thought.

Fairy Godmother Nifty Balloons

Fairy Godmother Cassandra was the “Queen Bee” at the Big Fake Wedding!

We asked Cassandra if she sings in the shower, her answer was just too honest and fun!
She said that she sometimes will sing in the shower, but she really belts out in the car- to the point where passersby wonder what she’s doing!

If Cassandra could have ANY job in the world, what would it be? She said a creative director, installation artist, children’s author/illustrator, and of course Fairy Godmother!

Early bird or night owl?

Cassandra, without hesitation, said that she is night owl for sure! She said that sleep is usually her last priority and that she is always so disappointed that most craft stores close at 9:00 pm because she is always in need of more supplies!

Finally, we asked Cassandra if there is any new or exciting news that she would like to share with the world…

Her answer was too perfect to change… “I’m becoming Mrs. Gear in 2018!!! #WeddngPlannerturnedBride”
