Bakersfield Wedding Pro Spotlight Interview – Linsey Middleton Photography
How did your business begin?
I have always had a deep love for photography and the stories photos tell. When I was 19 years old, I went for a walk with my dad, and we passed a camera store. Inside, I discovered a Nikon Coolpix 8700, and my dad, always so generous and supportive, bought it for me. Being the baby of the family, my dad had a special way of encouraging my passions. That camera became the beginning of my journey. In 2008, I photographed my very first wedding. Two years later, in 2010, we moved to San Diego, where I was fortunate to book a few weddings. However, it was not until 2016 that I decided to take my passion seriously. That was the year I got my business license and officially launched my wedding photography business. In 2017, we moved back to Bakersfield, and I was lucky to have incredible mentors like Patrick Ang, Boone Frenzel, Jen Williams, and many others who helped guide me as I built my business.
What is your superpower?
Photographing weddings is more than just a job for me—it’s my therapy and my passion. I pour my heart into serving my clients and making their day truly special. There’s nothing more fulfilling than capturing the emotions, moments, and connections that make each wedding unique. Being a part of someone’s happiest day is an honor I never take for granted.
What changes do you see in the industry?
I’ve noticed clients are becoming more cautious and intentional. They take longer to book, carefully considering every decision. This intentionality has led to a shift in how we approach and serve our clients, focusing even more on trust and communication.
Wedding Trends?
Content creators are becoming a popular addition to weddings. Initially, I wasn’t sure how they fit into the day, but I’ve come to see their value. They add a layer of storytelling that complements the photography beautifully. Another trend I adore is clients renting vintage cars. There’s something so timeless and romantic about these vehicles, and they add a wonderful touch to the day’s aesthetic.
What is your style?
My style is bright, airy, and colorful. I strive to capture the in-between moments—the raw emotions, genuine connections, and unspoken stories that unfold throughout the day. My background in art heavily influences my work. I have a degree in studio art and an AA in graphic design, and I see photography as a beautiful blend of creativity and craftsmanship. It’s more than capturing images; it’s creating art that my clients can treasure forever.
Who is your perfect client?
I tend to attract clients with big hearts—people who work in the service industry, like nurses and medical professionals, and those who bring a lot of joy and energy to life. My ideal clients know what they want but also trust my expertise. They value emotional, candid photography over posed shots and want their personalities and connections to shine through in their photos.
